(Right of Way)
Yield
Stop
Pedestrians at Crosswalks:
Pedestrians have the right of way at marked crosswalks or intersections with pedestrian signals.
Drivers must yield (e.g., stop at a yield sign or stop line) until pedestrians clear the crossing.
Vehicles on Main Roads:
At intersections without traffic lights, vehicles on a major road or highway typically have the right of way over those on minor roads.
Drivers on minor roads may face a yield or stop sign.
Emergency Vehicles:
Vehicles with active sirens or lights (e.g., ambulances, fire trucks, police cars) have the right of way.
Other drivers must pull over or stop to allow passage.
Roundabouts:
Vehicles already in a roundabout have the right of way over those entering.
Entering drivers must yield until the roundabout is clear.
Four-Way Stop Intersections:
The first vehicle to arrive at a four-way stop has the right of way.
If vehicles arrive simultaneously, the one on the right typically has priority (in countries like the U.S.).
Merging Traffic (e.g., Highway On-Ramps):
Vehicles on the main highway have the right of way over those merging from ramps.
Merging drivers must yield, often guided by yield signs.
T-Intersections:
Vehicles on the through road (the top of the "T") have the right of way.
Drivers on the terminating road must yield or stop.
Bicycles on Bike Lanes or Paths:
Cyclists in designated bike lanes often have the right of way over vehicles turning across or entering the lane.
Drivers must yield to avoid collisions.
